Weekly R.E.P.O.R.T
Happy Friday!
Due to my honest effort in trying to use my phone less, I have already noticed a small increase in my desire to write and be creative! It’s funny what NOT constantly be entertained will do for your brain.
Without further ado, my weekly report…
READING- I have been pushing through a 700+ page book of Pat Conroy’s titled “Beach Music.” I have always been a fan of his writing - even when it has sometimes been controversial, and even though many of the plotlines feel similar. There is something about his writing of Catholic families in the low country that always sucks me in. I need to plug away though in order to reach my yearly reading goal of 100 books. When I finish this one, it will be number 90!
EATING- Now that the colder days and darker nights are upon us, our beach club offers s’mores by the beach on Wednesday evenings. Sam and I love to pop over and make one and then walk on the beach. I don’t normally think to make this treat, but I have found myself really enchanted by the tradition. Plus, the beach in the fall is downright magical.
PLAYING- I have been really playful in my journaling lately; I’ve never felt so connected to the little girl I once was. I normally find myself very serious when writing, and I’ve given myself permission the play. Write stories no one will read! Answer fun prompts! Write about what making life romantic means to me! Dream about going to the ballet! I have found that when I let myself off the hook, I remember why writing can be really fun.
OBSESSING- Absolutely obsessing over bringing my screentime way down. I won’t get into it too much because I already wrote about it this week, but this idea of being on my phone less is heavy on my mind. While the idea of this used to weigh me down, now I feel free! I am only in week one, but I am already thinking of new ways to hold myself accountable and keep the good work up. I don’t want this to be a short lived change. Plus, I have found relief in this week ALONE of not feeling like I need to post or be online.
RECOMMENDING- I have to recommend a really solid nighttime routine. I am always a stickler for mine, but feel like it matters that much more once the time changes. It’s how I take care of myself. I don’t think it needs to be anything fancy - mine isn’t! I drink peppermint tea with honey, do my skincare routine and brush my teeth, put on a pajama set, and read in bed without my phone. I use a weighted blanket and often a heating pad until I feel sleepy enough. This feels luxurious to me. I am wildly serious about sleep and I always feel best when I go to sleep this way.
TREATING- Now that my half marathon training is really ramping up, I like to get myself a small treat after a particularly long run. I typically relax all of Saturday after my super long runs, which is very unlike me, and feels delicious all on its own. I shower, put on cozy sweatpants, and read to recover. This weekend, I am treating myself to a facial after a 7 mile run and I am so excited. I feel like my skin has been awful lately and I haven’t had a facial in probably 2 years. Hopefully, I’ll come out glowing!
Would love to know what YOUR weekly report is - sound off in the comments!
Have a lovely weekend.
